A Pragmatic Analysis of Impoliteness in Selected Ghanaian Social Interactions

This study investigates impolite natural Ghanaian conversations using a pragmatic approach. It is aimed at describing the types of impoliteness strategies, how they are linguistically represented and identifying responses toward strategies. research employed qualitative collection. The data were ten which portray distinct society in terms norms, relationship, status power. sources documented transcribed into English because some local language (Twi). In this research, descriptive investigative approach was used analyzing data. results stated as follows. five strategies by interlocutors conversations. They are, positive impoliteness, negative sarcasm or mock politeness, withhold politeness bald-on-record impoliteness. Negative most dominant type strategy, while least strategy to occur research. use vocatives, dismissal, threats silencers.
